If you are employed at an LSC-funded program there are restrictions on lobbying activities that prohibit you from engaging in activities to indirectly or directly influence Congress regarding funding for the Legal Services Corporation, in your capacity as an employee of an LSC program.
Educating legislators about your work
Many LSC grantees regularly meet with and educate members of Congress and other elected officials about the valuable constituent services available through legal aid programs and the problems faced by the client community and their programs. Click here for a guide explaining what you can and cannot do when educating legislators about your programs.
Writing about your work
Writing publically to advocate for LSC funding is also prohibited. However you are permitted to discuss the impact of your work and other important topics. Click here to download an example of a powerful op-ed submission that is permitted by the restrictions.
